In support of women & girls in Afghanistan, the Red Pashmina Walk returns in person for the first time in four years

Come out and enjoy an afternoon of community while supporting Afghan women and girls! Wear your Red Pashmina!
Once again, the event is hosted by the Peterborough chapter of Canadian Women For Women in Afghanistan (CW4WA) alongside Red Pashmina Inc., with proceeds being presented to CW4WA for the education of Afghan women and their families. Money raised will go to support online education materials and courses as well as humanitarian baskets which include food, hygiene products and learning materials.
Our guest speaker will be Selay Ghaffar, a political and women’s activist from Afghanistan now living in Toronto, who has worked for a number of human rights organizations and was the director of Humanitarian Assistance for the Women and Children of Afghanistan. She will share about her experiences living in present-day Afghanistan.
Red Pashminas, natural stone earrings, and other items will be for sale.
The walk will move through East City and back, although a shorter route will be available.

With the return of the Taliban regime, the education of women and girls continues to be relevant in Afghanistan, now more than ever. Canadian Women For Women in Afghanistan continues to champion education as a means to peace, and remains dedicated to its mission of encouraging Canadians to take action, in partnership with Afghan women, toward improving conditions of human rights, ending women's oppression, and providing opportunities for Afghan women to live their lives with dignity, certainty and purpose.
